Hurricane Helene was a devastating turning point for our region—exposing the fragility of outdated systems, but also unlocking an unprecedented willingness to rebuild differently. In the wake of this storm, Blueprint for Impact emerged as a community-led initiative focused on shifting from short-term recovery to long-term regeneration.
A New Model for Community Impact
We exist to bridge the gap between grassroots efforts and strategic leadership. We bring together innovators—nonprofits, businesses, creatives, and community leaders—to co-create bold, collaborative solutions that regenerate our land, uplift our communities, and build a resilient local economy.
OUR VISION
By 2035, the people and organizations working to help Asheville and the greater French Broad River Basin bioregion thrive in abundance are woven together with intention, integrity and innovation. There is maximum transparency across the people and organizations because they are working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary “portfolio” groups to amplify their impact and increase their efficiency. The work being done is fully funded and there is a residual pool of funding that is continually replenished through a regenerative financing system.

Silos To Synergy
Many promising initiatives struggle to make a meaningful impact in a system that keeps them operating in silos. Dissolving these barriers is at the heart of what makes our organization unique.
Blueprint for Impact unites local efforts, global resources, and diverse communities to foster connections, amplify impact, and drive lasting change in our bioregion.
WHAT WE OFFER
Tools to help changemakers grow their impact—together.
Our 4,000 sq. ft. Asheville Impact Hub is a home for connection—hosting workshops, gatherings, and community-led events.
Voice & Visibility
We offer coaching to help leaders elevate their voice, speak with clarity, and lead with confidence—both internally and publicly.
This first Collaboration Portfolio is currently in development—bringing together land stewards, water protectors, tourism professionals, educators, and recreation businesses to co-create a healthier, more connected, and more resilient outdoor commons.
As this portfolio takes shape, it will serve as a blueprint we can adapt and apply to other key sectors—supporting ripple effects across housing, health, food & farming and culture.
Our First Focus Area
We believe community thrives when we address the full ecosystem of daily life—from housing and food systems to education, business, and the environment. To build something truly impactful and replicable, we know we must start with one area of focused collaboration.
That first area is our Outdoor Commons.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene and through conversations with hundreds of local leaders, businesses, and organizations, it became clear that protecting, restoring, and expanding equitable access to our shared outdoor spaces is both urgent and widely supported.

Why Bioregions Matter
Bioregions reflect the natural systems that sustain life—watersheds, ecosystems, and communities that are ecologically and culturally connected. By working at the bioregional scale, we can design solutions that are more responsive, resilient, and rooted in the realities of place.

We are based in Asheville, North Carolina at the heart of the French Broad River Basin—a region deeply impacted by Hurricane Helene. The storm revealed a powerful truth:
what happens upstream affects everyone downstream. This is why our work, while centered in Asheville, is designed to serve the entire bioregion.
Impact is the new ROI.
We follow the globally recognized 4 Returns model, rethinking “return on investment” as a return on impact—to build systems that are regenerative, not extractive.
Return on Inspiration
Giving people hope and a sense of purpose
Return on Ecology
Restoring biodiversity and soils for healthy and resilient landscapes
Social return
Bringing back jobs, education and social connections
Financial return
Realizing long-term sustainable income for communities

Storytelling & Media
Using the power of media to elevate voices, connect communities, and drive systems-level change.
We believe stories shape movements. Through film, photography, and intentional communication, we spotlight the people, places, and projects leading transformative work across our bioregion.

Story of Place
Exploring the geological, ecological, and cultural roots of our region—this project honors the deep connection to land, identity, and belonging that fuels our community’s commitment to regeneration.

Voices of Impact
A visibility initiative led by co-founder Jennifer Germaine, supporting leaders, organizations, and ecosystem builders to speak clearly, confidently, and with resonance—within their projects and beyond.

WE'RE A PART OF THE
2025 BIOFI CULTIVATOR.
Blueprint for Impact is honored to have been invited to be a part of the first-ever 2025 BioFi Cultivator, a groundbreaking initiative that brings together 20 bioregional teams across South, Central, and North America and Hawai’i. We will collaborate with other visionaries to design and implement the world’s first Bioregional Financing Facilities (BFFs)—innovative systems reconnecting funding with life-affirming solutions.
This five-month program will deepen our capacity to address systemic challenges in the French Broad Watershed bioregion, leveraging collective expertise, funding networks, and regenerative principles. Our participation underscores the significance of our work and empowers us to co-create a model for ecological and economic resilience that can ripple across the globe.
